After many of the stories we’ve heard about mythical creatures, it is normal for some of us to fantasize about them and their powers. Another reason why we love their stories so much is because of their different physiology. Their tales have terrified and fascinated us at the same time.

Are you here to find out more information about your favorite mythical monsters? If yes, then sit tight and go through the rest of the piece to know what you probably never knew before now. The very first on our list would be:

Loch Ness Monster

The Scotts have been looking for this famous creature for God knows how long. According to the different legends, it is a dinosaur that has its habitat in the water. There is no real evidence to prove if Loch Ness Monster exists as of today. However, the stories of its existence have left admirers raving and uncontrollably excited. The very first story about this creature dates as far back as thousands of years ago.

Big Foot

There is this assumption that Big Foot is the connecting bridge between apes and humans. The thing is – we are yet to see one to know if such presumptions are correct. Until then, the Big Foot story is nothing but a fantasy in our heads.

Some people have decided that they will find Big Foot no matter what it will take them. Pictures have been taken in rare occasions to prove its existence. The FBI in America has a special file for the Big Foot. Unfortunately, nothing concrete has been able to materialize from all the information gathered so far. In other words, there is still zero proofs that Big Foot is out there and is scaring people.

Jersey Devil

mythical monsters

The story of Jersey Devil has been around for centuries before today. The creature has been depicted to be one hell of an ugly creature, with leathery wings, a tail, and a horn protruding out of its head. It is alleged that it uses its hind legs for walking.

There are various versions of the Jersey Devil’s origin, most of them contradicting one another. The only common factor between all the stories is that the creature is super evil.

Abominable Snowman

If you are familiar with a couple of Asian myths, then it is possible that you may have heard of the Abominable Snowman. Or it’s possible you normally refer to it by some other name. The stories about the Abominable Snowman are the same – it is believed to have pitched its tent somewhere amidst the mountains.

Even though several big tracks have been credited to this seemingly gigantic creature, there is no credible eye witness account of its existence. The myth of the Abominable Snowman has been around for many years because of the mysterious nature of the creature. Also, let’s not forget locals in the Nepalese village who are helping to lend credibility to the creature’s existence.

Sirens

As old as the legend about the Sirens are, surprisingly it has found a place among people of this modern age. Several TV shows and movies have been made about this creature, describing how it seduces people and kills them eventually.

Another name for sirens is mermaids. The stories about sirens have also varied from one culture to another.

Chimera

mythical monsters

Most of the myths describe the Chimera as a fierce creature, having the head of a lion, the body of a goat, and the tail of a serpent. Nobody has actually come out to give us the true form of a Chimera. That is because everyone seems to have their own version of what this creature looks like. The Greek version tells us that this mythical monsters is the product of two other monstrous creatures. There are other interesting stories about the Chimera you may find online; you can go and check them out.

Minotaur

This is one other creature that seems to be more popular with Greek myths. The creature was alleged to have a weird-looking appearance because it has been born from the reproductive organs of two monsters. According to some legends, the Minotaur had an insatiable appetite for human blood. Still on the stories, the mythical monster grew to a big size after feeding on many humans before it was eventually killed by the Greek Theseus.

Zombies

mythical monsters

I bet you have seen a zombie in one of those horror movies you watched recently. Since we all caught sight of zombies in the movies, they have left us with this dread and fear that we cannot forget in a hurry. The Haitians are so afraid of zombies. That’s why the Greeks prefer to put stones on top of a corpse when they are burying it, so the person cannot rise again in the future. In some other voodoo religions, there are people who claim they can wake the dead with their powers.

Werewolf

The origin of werewolves is confusing because it is a myth that is common among many cultures. It is hard to give exact details regarding where it is coming from. The stories of werewolves have been narrated over and again, and the striking thing with all the stories is that the features of the creature differ from one story to another. According to the different stories, werewolves can be killed in a myriad of ways. The most common of them is the use of silver bullet, as you may have rightly guessed.

Vampires

mythical monsters

Dracula is no doubt the world’s most popular vampire. There are various characteristics of vampires based on the different myths we know. Having said that, none of these characteristics give us an accurate description of vampires. From what we know in the movies, they survive on human blood. They are also perceived to be charming and extremely wealthy (at least that is what we know about them today).

Conclusion

Some people are willing to sacrifice anything to see their favorite mythical monsters. Whether they exist or not, that’s a story for another day. Until that mystery is solved, it is safe to fantasize about them for as much as you please.
